HENRY VIII AND THE ENGLISH REFORMATION
It’s 1517! The English Reformation begins…
By now, many thought that the Catholic Church had become a huge money making industry and had forgotten it’s core Christian values. Martin Luther was a German monk who first started a new breakaway church by complaining to the Church about the sale of ‘Indulgences’. These were sort of ‘pardons’ for when people sinned. (which usually mean mass-killings). Before you know it, our very own King Henry VIII is also unhappy with the Catholic Church when the Pope refuses to let him divorce one of his wives. Henry VIII decides to follow Luther’s ideas about ‘reforming’ the Church and sets up his own break-away religion that would grant him his divorce. So and begins the Protestant Church of England….
